Sketches in Walking
14 minutes 57 seconds, 2007
This video is about using walking as a starting point to question meaning and context. I am questioning these things much in the way we do with language. I used motion-activated surveillance cameras to capture the footage of me walking in as many ways as I could think of in my home hallway. Examples: walking on eggshells, backwards, like a crab, etc. I then grouped the clips into four random groups and put them together to resemble common surveillance footage. It is meant to be seen on a loop. I am interested in the relationships created by the groupings and context created along with the use of repetition in this project. I am also interested in the extension of my body as mark maker, fracturing of the body, and the private made public.
